Greenpoint has a new restaurant worth crossing Brooklyn for—and, conveniently, 148 Noble Street has decided to make things very easy by simply naming itself after its address.
The new Greenpoint restaurant comes from chef Gabriel Borges, a New Orleans native and former chef de cuisine at Chez Ma Tante, along with partner Eric Carney, a Five Leaves alum. The concept brings together European cooking with the bold flavors and influences of Borges’ hometown.
Located at 148 Noble Street, in the former home of The Noble, the restaurant is already generating buzz as one of Brooklyn’s newest restaurants. The cooking pulls inspiration from New York, Paris, London and New Orleans, creating a menu that refuses to fit neatly into one culinary box.
And the food is giving diners plenty to talk about.
Early menu highlights include pommes paillasson, essentially a gloriously crispy potato cake; oysters with green tomato vinaigrette; buttery grilled pork; and profiteroles served with husk cherries. In other words, this is not the place to order a sad salad and call it dinner.
The drinks program is another reason to pay attention. Carney has developed a wine- and vermouth-focused menu, giving the restaurant a distinctly European drinking sensibility while keeping things approachable for a neighborhood crowd.
The restaurant’s timing is also perfect. 148 Noble Street opened in September 2026, adding another destination to a Greenpoint dining scene that seems to produce a new “you have to try this” restaurant every other week.
For anyone searching for new restaurants in Brooklyn, Greenpoint restaurants, NYC restaurant openings or where to eat in Greenpoint, 148 Noble Street is one to put on the list.
The name may be straightforward.
The food, thankfully, is anything but.
And yes, telling your friends you’re going to “148 Noble” sounds suspiciously like giving them directions instead of a dinner reservation.
