IL Postino Ristorante on 61st between Park and Lexington has been a city favorite for over 25 years. Il Postino offers a variety of authentic and classic pasta, chicken and meat dishes as well as an extensive authentic seafood menu only using the freshest fish. It is a neighborhood favorite for a local fine dining experience.

IL Postino is open 7 days a week. We like that they keep it consistent being open from 12p-10:15pm daily…except Sundays…Sundays they are open from 5p-10pm.

View the menu for IL Postino here. Below is a review of the menu.

If you are a soup person like me, you are going to appreciate the ‘Zuppe’ choices on the menu: Zuppa Di Carciofi (artichoke soup), Cold Gazpacho, Stracciatella, Minestrone, and Pasta e Fagioli. I myself would get the artichoke soup with my meal and take some Minestrone and Pasta e Fagioli home for lunch the following days…

Il Postino has a variety of different starters, salads, chicken dishes, fish dishes, and pasta offerings on the lunch menu. The starter menu is on the lighter side so it will help you save your appetite. You are going to want to save plenty of room for your main lunch dish. We suggest going with a few friends or family so that you can share and get a taste of everything.

What we would order to start: Calamari alla Griglio (calamari with aromatic herbs), Cozze al Vino Bianco (mussels, white wine, garlic, parsley) and the Fiori di Zucchine (zucchini flowers).

What we would order from the pasta menu to share: Pappardelle Dolce 4 Formaggi (homemade papapardelle with assorted cheese) topped with a half…or full…portion of Black Trfufle from UMBRIA and the Spaghetti al Pomodoro (spaghetti with fresh cherry tomatoes).

What we would order from the rest of the lunch menu: Piatto Di Formaggi (assorted Italian cheeses) and the Cuore Di Lattuga con Gorgonzola (hearts of baby lettuce with Gorganzola cheese). If we had a third person with us we would probably order something off of the carne or pesce menu.

We would need a couple visits to be able to taste everything we want on the dinner menu. No need for a long write up about us wanting to order one of everything on the menu…we will save that review for when we actually do!

IL Postino has a 4.3 star rating on Google and almost 200 reviews. On OpenTable it has a 4.8 rating with over 800 reviews. It is considered $$$ (expensive) with many people spending at least $50 on a meal, not including drinks.

The Real Housewives of New York also visited Il Postino during filming. During Season 5 Episode 10 LuAnn de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan are seen dining at Il Postino. This was mostly likely filmed in December 2011 and airing in Fall of 2012. It Iooks like Sonja started with a salad and sounds like she ordered chicken paillard which we do not see currently listed on the menu. Sonja is impressed and comments on the presentation. LuAnn says that she likes raviolis but it is unclear what she ordered.

Reservation for IL Postino through OpenTable here…

IL Postino is highly rated for the wine list, the dinner menu, the ravioli, the truffle, and the cheesecake.
