Brandon Fay’s West Village Perry Club is located on 7th Avenue between Perry Street and Waverly Place.  Brandon takes pride in serving fresh pasta, pizza, and seafood dishes that can be sampled and shared over a glass (or bottle) of wine. The food at Perry Club by Pasta by Hudson was introduced to the world in 2019 when it was featured on Season 11 Episode 17 of Shark Tank.  Owner, Brandon Fay, introduced his concept of fast pasta on the go before the sharks prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.  In the end, he got a $150,000 investment from Lori and Mark.  They receive 30% equity in the company.  You can read more at SharkTankRecap.com or watch the episode via Youtube.

Perry Club by Pasta by Hudson is easily accessible by subway via the 1,2,3 train, stopping at Christopher Street or 14th Street.  It is a bit of a walk from Penn Station (25 minutes) and even further from Grand Central (45 minutes by foot).  For those coming from NJ, we suggest taking the NJ Path to 9th Street and walking the few blocks.   You can choose to sit outside or in one of the two rooms with speakeasy vibes located in the cellar.  It may seem like a typical pizza shop upon first glance…but don’t let that stop you from sampling a little bit of everything on the menu.

The menu at Perry Club primarily consists of seafood, pasta, and pizza…but there are also options for sides, cheeses, and salads on the dinner menu.  Dinner is served 7 days a week starting at 4:45pm.  Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday starting at 12pm.  The brunch menu features some favorites off of the regular menu as well as some brunch only options.  You can add a “boozy brunch” free refill beverage (mimosa, bellini, or blood mary) for $20 an hour.

The brunch menu is limited but does offer some Perry Club by Pasta by Hudson favorites.  Prices range from $18-$24 depending on what is ordered.  The offerings include the carbonaro pizza (fried egg, smoked applewood bacon, shaved parmesan, arugula, balsamic glaze for $21, regularly $26), cinnamon panettone toast (banana cream, berry compote, maple syrup $19), cheesy frittata (zucchini squash, mushroom, potato $18), smoked salmon pizza (cream cheese, crispy capers, everything bagel seasoning $24), the “perfect” caesar salad with chicken (fried egg, roasted tomato, parmesan garlic bread, anchovies, baby gem lettuce $23), and a side of smoked applewood bacon ($7).

The dinner menu has many options, starting with appetizer style table sides, seafood to share, and artisanal cheeses and salads.  The table sides prices range from $8-$27 with choices that include parmesan flatbread, herb garlic bread, cheesy meatballs, italian hot sausage, broccoli rabe, grape tomatoes, and the vegetable of the day.  The seafood menu is designed to share so everyone can get a little taste.  The seafood options include baked shrimp scampi, chilled octopus salad, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and drunken mussels (prices range from $16-$27).

It isn’t an Italian restaurant without artisanal cheeses…and Perry Club has the best.  The cheese board gives you an opportunity to sample a variety of cheeses…and there is a small and large portion size depending on the size of your party.  Other cheeses on the menu include a pound of mozzarella (served with garlic toast, grape tomatoes, and shaved parmesan) and a burrata caprese which is served over arugula.  Salad options include the “perfect” salad and the West Village Farmers Market (vegetables over arugula and fennel).  If you want something a little salty with your salad, consider ordering the prosciutto platter that comes with arugula, kalamata olives, shaved parmesan, and parmesan flatbread.

For the main course, you can choose from pasta or pizza…or both.  The create-your-own pasta concept is a crowd favorite (choose your pasta and choose  your sauce!) but so are the house’s favorite pasta dishes.  If you want to choose your pasta and your sauce, the pasta options are bucatini, mezzi rigatoni, and treccioni (gluten free options available for additional cost) and the sauce options are pomodoro, a la vodka, pesto, bolognese with sausage, broccoli rabe and tomato, or butternut squash.  The create-your-own pasta prices range from $20-$24 depending on your choice of sauce.  The house favorites range from $16-$35 and include meatball bucatini, rigatoni a la vodka with a while bolognese and sausage, campanelle carbonara, bucatini shrimp scampi, lobster stuffed ravioli, “Perry” Puttanesca, baked mafaldine bolognese, and wild mushroom ravioli.

Crowd favorite pastas from the house favorite menu include the “Perry” puttanesca (red sauce with kalamata olives, caperberries, and carmelized onions) and the rigatoni a la vodka (served in a white bolognese sauce with sausage).

The homemade pizzas are 13 inches and have a very thin crust.  Unfortunately there is no create-your-own pizza option…but with the variety of choices on the menu, you probably will not want to anyway.  The pizza choices include margherita, 8 cheese, zucchini and squash, pepperoni, sweet and hot sausage, prosciutto di parma and arugula, vodka chicken parm, carbonara, shrimp scampi, 7 prawn, supreme, Mr. Wonderful, and Ciro caprese.

Crowd favorite pizzas include the 8 cheese (Humboldt fog, brie, asiago, goat, gruyere, parmesan, pecorino romano, and mozzarella), the “Ciro” caprese (mozzarella, arugula, endive, tomatoes, burrata, balsamic, EVOO, and sea salt), and the Mr. Wonderful (meatball with burrata).

Drinks– to accompany your meal you can choose from a small draft beer selection…or from the more extensive wine selection.  There are many white wines, roses, sparkling wines, and red wine available by the glass (comes served Quartino, 180 mL) and several red wines available by the bottle.  We suggest coming with a group and sharing a few bottles of the red.  The dessert menu has chocolate mousse, banana cream crumble, red velvet cake, flourless chocolate cake, and a chocolate chip cookie topped with sea salt.

As of June 2023, Perry Club by Pasta by Hudson has 4.1 stars on Google and just under 100 reviews.  It is considered moderately priced Italian.  The most highly rated menu items were the meatballs (cheesy meatballs stuffed with mozzarella), the rigatoni (a la vodka style with a white bolognese sauce and sausage), and the shrimp scampi (meal and pizza).  Take out is available by delivery or pick up and can be ordered on the website.  Reservations can be made on Resy for either the “Perry Club” room or the “Garden” room.

#Deuxmoimademedoit ~ In June 2023 Perry Club caught the attention of @deuxmoi fans via the 6/25/2023 Sunday Spotted of Sam Smith spending the evening eating some pizza…outdoors…in the middle of NYC. The submitter commented that “Perry Club is awesome and a local gem in west village! Glad (Sam Smith) found it (but) kinda crazy to see a celeb eat on the avenue streets of nyc!”
