Aussie inspired cocktail bar with skyline views in Midtown South

Located in Hotel Hendricks on 38th between 5th and 6th, Daintree is conveniently located in Midtown South.  It is about an 11 minute walk from both Penn Station and Grand Central Station, making it easily accessible for locals and tourists alike.  We recommend Daintree for anyone visiting New York City due to the atmosphere and views.  The 29th floor has two large rooms that are open to the public unless otherwise rented for private events.  Here, you can lounge at the bar or in small groups throughout the intimate space.  The set-up is informal, with more of a lounge feel.  In addition to the indoor lounge area, there is access to a rooftop bar  serving cocktails and small bites, making Daintree an excellent location for New Yorkers looking for post-work meet-ups, for companies hosting small events, or for visitors looking for great cocktails with a view.

Daintree has 175 Google Reviews as of June 2023 and is considered moderately priced.  The bites menu and cocktail menu is typical of New York City pricing and does not seem too excessive.  Since the bite menu is small and not meant to be a meal, you will need to eat before or after.  If you are looking to stay with the Aussie-American theme, consider visiting Isla & Co. which is on the 1st floor of the Hendricks Hotel.  Make a night out of it! Start at Daintree for a cocktail, head down to Isla & Co. for dinner, and return to Daintree to finish your evening with a nightcap.

Daintree is open Monday through Thursday 4p-12am, Friday and Saturday 2p-12am.  Please note that it is closed on Sunday.  Although the cocktails are the center of attention at Daintree, there is a food menu with small bites that should not be overlooked.  Intertwining Australian and American inspired favorites, the bites menu consists of oysters, tuna tartare, farro cakes, hummus and crudite, brussel sprouts, burgers, house fries, kangaroo skewers, and sticky date pudding.  If you are looking to get a taste of Australia, you must try Daintree’s take on some American favorites while also trying Australian favorites such as the kangaroo skewers and sticky date pudding.  Regardless of what you try, everything on the menu has been specially curated to reflect the combination of American and Australian for you to try.

I stumbled upon Daintree when I was searching for rooftop lounges for a small intimate gathering.  For group events, the pricing is very reasonable considering you are in New York City with amazing skyline views.  There are 2 rooms (Empire Room and Bar Room) on the 29th floor.  The rooftop (Treetop Terrace) is only accessible by stairs.  All 3 have panoramic views of the city and can be reserved individually or altogether.  Even if it does not work out for my event, I will definitely be back to Daintree in the future.
