Miami has plenty of flashy restaurants, but Chateau ZZ’s takes the whole “dinner with a little drama” thing to another level.
The Major Food Group restaurant sits inside a genuine 1931 French-style chateau at 1500 Brickell Avenue, serving Mexican fine dining, more than 1,000 tequilas and mezcals, and enough old-Hollywood glamour to make ordering guacamole feel like an event.
So how do you actually get a Chateau ZZ’s reservation?
Reservations are released on Resy 30 days in advance at 10 a.m. Eastern, meaning your best strategy is to know your date, be logged into Resy before 10 a.m. and be ready to click. The restaurant also accepts reservation requests through reservations@chateauzzs.com, although reported response rates to email requests can be hit-or-miss.
Can’t get a table? There’s a loophole of sorts: the bar welcomes walk-ins, although the available food there is limited to chips and guacamole. You can also use Resy’s notification feature to get alerted when somebody cancels.
Now for the obscure part.
Before Chateau ZZ’s became one of Miami’s most talked-about restaurants, the property was known as Petit Douy. Built as a private residence in 1931, the estate was designed by architect Martin L. Hampton and reportedly drew inspiration from the Priory of Saint-Julien in Douy, France. The building was designated a historically protected structure in 1983. Even more surprising: Chateau ZZ’s was the first time the estate was opened to the public.
Inside, Ken Fulk transformed the historic property into a glamorous dining destination featuring gardens, a solarium, bar and lounge.
So yes, getting a reservation requires some timing.
But once you’re inside, you’re not simply having dinner.
You’re eating inside a 1930s Miami chateau.
Which makes missing the Resy drop feel slightly less painful.
