Jersey City has a new Italian contender, and it’s bringing a little Naples and Sicily to the neighborhood. Vicoletto Pizza & Cucina, the latest restaurant from the team behind Hoboken’s Blue Eyes, has opened at 357 Seventh Street, serving Southern Italian comfort food with a polished downtown vibe.

The name Vicoletto translates to “small alleyway,” evoking those tucked-away Italian spots where the food does the talking and nobody needs a complicated backstory to order another plate of pasta.

Pizza, Pistachio and Plenty of Italian Personality

Pizza is a major attraction, with classic red and white pies alongside specialty combinations that are anything but ordinary. The standout? The Pistacchiosa, topped with mortadella, Sicilian pistachio cream and creamy burrata. It’s salty, rich, nutty and unapologetically indulgent — essentially a vacation to Sicily without the airfare.

Traditionalists can stick with favorites like Margherita and Diavola, while pasta lovers have plenty to explore. Cacio e pepe and linguine with clams bring familiar Italian flavors, while the Genovese — a slow-cooked beef and onion dish — delivers the sort of comforting richness that makes canceling evening plans seem entirely reasonable.

The menu also features antipasti, house-made Neapolitan meatballs, grilled Mediterranean branzino and roasted half chicken. And because dessert should never be an afterthought, there’s tiramisu, cannoli and even a sweet pizza topped with Nutella and pistachio cream.

A Neighborhood Restaurant With Italian Roots

Vicoletto comes from Alessandro Galioto and the team behind Blue Eyes, bringing their experience to a new Jersey City address. The concept blends elevated dining with the warmth of a neighborhood trattoria, emphasizing Southern Italian traditions rather than chasing the latest food trend.

The restaurant is located at 357 Seventh Street, Jersey City, in the former Delenio space. Reservations are not currently accepted, so diners should plan on walk-in seating.

For Jersey City residents craving authentic Italian flavors, Vicoletto offers a tempting new reason to stay local. For Hoboken regulars, it’s another excuse to cross the Hudson — preferably with room for one more slice.
