Daddy Yankee is trading the recording studio for the restaurant kitchen—or at least the business side of it—as the reggaeton superstar prepares to open a new Peruvian restaurant in New York City.
The restaurant, Cholapink, is expected to open this fall in Nolita at 32 Spring Street, bringing together Daddy Yankee and acclaimed Peruvian chef Jaime Pesaque. The casual restaurant will focus on one of Peru’s most beloved dishes: anticuchos, or grilled meat skewers.
And this isn’t your typical celebrity restaurant where the famous name does all the heavy lifting. Pesaque, whose restaurant Mayta has earned international recognition, is behind the culinary direction, while Daddy Yankee brings his global Latin music star power—and apparently a serious appreciation for Peruvian food.
The menu is expected to go beyond anticuchos, with ceviche, arroz chaufa and traditional Peruvian beverages also reportedly making an appearance.
Interestingly, the concept reportedly wasn’t always destined to be Peruvian. The project initially considered Mexican food, but Daddy Yankee’s enthusiasm for Peruvian cuisine helped steer the restaurant toward Peru instead.
For New Yorkers, Cholapink arrives at an interesting moment. Peruvian restaurants have become increasingly prominent in the city’s dining scene, and Nolita is already packed with restaurants competing for the attention of hungry downtown crowds.
Now Daddy Yankee is adding another ingredient: celebrity.
If the restaurant’s grilled meats, ceviche and Peruvian flavors live up to the hype, Cholapink could become one of NYC’s buzziest new restaurant openings of 2026. And yes, Daddy Yankee may finally have a new answer to the question: What comes after “Gasolina”?
Apparently, anticuchos.
