Ambassadors Clubhouse NYC is back. The buzzy NoMad Indian restaurant has reopened its doors after a fire briefly forced the highly coveted dining destination to close—and judging by how hard it was to get a table before, New Yorkers may want to start refreshing Resy immediately.
The fire broke out on the morning of August 12 while the restaurant was closed, meaning no injuries were reported. The FDNY responded quickly, and after nearly a week of being temporarily shuttered, Ambassadors Clubhouse reopened on August 18.
Located at 1245 Broadway in NoMad, Ambassadors Clubhouse has quickly become one of New York City’s most talked-about Indian restaurants. The New York outpost comes from JKS Restaurants, the group behind the acclaimed London restaurant of the same name. Its menu celebrates the flavors of Northern India and Punjab, while the interiors lean heavily into the kind of maximalist luxury that makes a regular Tuesday night feel suspiciously like a royal wedding.
And then there is the reservation problem—or, depending on your perspective, the reservation sport.
Ambassadors Clubhouse is notorious for being difficult to book, with reservations released roughly two weeks before the beginning of each month. The restaurant itself recommends joining its priority list, while walk-ins are extremely limited and generally depend on same-day cancellations.
So, after a dramatic interruption involving flames, smoke and a very temporary restaurant crisis, Ambassadors Clubhouse is officially back in business.
The fire may have gotten everyone’s attention, but don’t expect it to make reservations any easier. If anything, New York’s dining obsessives now have another reason to race for a table.
