New York City has plenty of comedy clubs, but how many of them are actually floating on a retired Staten Island Ferry? On September 17, comedians Pete Davidson and Colin Jost are turning their famously questionable boat purchase into the Snapple Island Ferry, a one-night-only comedy show at Pier 17.
The free NYC comedy event will feature Davidson and Jost as hosts, plus sets from six rising comedians. The 60-minute show will also come with Snapple drinks and snacks, because apparently stand-up comedy is better when you’re holding a beverage with a questionable amount of sugar.
The ferry in question is the John F. Kennedy, a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry that Davidson, Jost and partners purchased at auction for about $280,000 in 2022. The purchase immediately became one of celebrity culture’s great mysteries. Four years later, it finally has a purpose: making people laugh.
How to Get Free Tickets
Here’s the important part: tickets are free, but extremely limited.
Ticket drops were scheduled daily at 3 p.m. ET from September 3 through September 8 through the official Snapple Island Ferry registration portal. Fans could claim one pair of tickets per person, meaning you could bring a friend, date or the person who convinced you that buying a ferry was a good investment.
The event takes place Thursday, September 17, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the comedy show beginning at 8:30 p.m. at Pier 17, 89 South Street in Lower Manhattan.
Unfortunately, if you missed the September 3–8 ticket drops, the free-ticket window has already closed. But Snapple says it will share clips and highlights from the event on its social channels.
So, no, you may not get to board the boat.
But at least you can watch two former SNL stars finally prove that buying a ferry wasn’t completely insane.
