The Upper West Side just got a serious new destination for Cantonese food, dim sum and seafood. Wu’s Dynasty is now open at 208 West 70th Street, bringing a massive new Chinese restaurant to the neighborhood—and yes, there are dim sum carts.
The restaurant comes from Derek Wu, who spent years as a founder and manager of Wu’s Wonton King on the Lower East Side. His new restaurant takes the Cantonese playbook uptown, with a sprawling dining room designed for big groups, family dinners and anyone who believes ordering “just a few things” at dim sum is a dangerous lie.
Wu’s Dynasty serves dim sum daily, with carts rolling through the dining room from roughly 10 a.m. into the afternoon. The menu includes classics like shrimp and Chinese chive dumplings, cheong fun, pan-fried noodles and custard lava buns, alongside a much larger Cantonese menu.
And then there are the seafood tanks.
Live seafood is prominently displayed near the entrance, with lobster, crab and fish available for Cantonese-style preparations. There’s also Beijing duck, giving diners plenty of reasons to arrive hungry and leave carrying leftovers.
The restaurant is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., making it an unusually flexible option for everything from a weekday dim sum lunch to a full Cantonese dinner. There’s also a $16.99 lunch special, according to The Infatuation.
For anyone searching for new restaurants on the Upper West Side, best dim sum in NYC, Cantonese food in Manhattan or where to eat Chinese food uptown, Wu’s Dynasty is officially on the map.
Chinatown may still have bragging rights.
But now the Upper West Side has dim sum carts.
And they’re rolling.
