Brooklyn just got a little more Southern. Ferguson’s Country is now open at 732 Lorimer Street in Williamsburg, bringing Southern comfort food, pitchers of beer, a jukebox and plenty of moonshine to North Brooklyn.
Known affectionately as Ferg’s, the new restaurant comes from Scott Ferguson and Gabriella Mann, the team behind Williamsburg’s Baba and Baba Cool. After making their mark with French-inspired food and natural wine, the duo is taking things in a decidedly different direction.
Think shrimp and grits, blackened or fried catfish, hot chicken biscuits, cider-braised pork and peach cobbler. There’s also a wedge salad with smoked bacon and cast-iron cornbread, because apparently Williamsburg finally has a place where “I’ll just have something light” was never really an option.
The drinks are leaning Southern, too. Ferguson’s Country has draft beer, cocktails and a deep moonshine program, with drinks including the Lowcountry Iced Tea, Corn Martini and Jogging in a Jug. If your beverage has “moonshine” in the description, you already know dinner could become an event.
And then there’s the jukebox.
The restaurant is designed to feel like a small Southern joint dropped onto Lorimer Street, complete with country music and a casual neighborhood atmosphere. The team describes it as a meeting point between the noise of the city and the quieter feeling of the country.
Ferguson’s Country opened September 12, and dinner is currently served Wednesday through Sunday from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Brunch and a daytime menu are planned for a later date. Reservations are available through Resy, while walk-ins are welcome.
For anyone searching for new Williamsburg restaurants, Southern food in NYC, shrimp and grits in Brooklyn or new restaurants in Brooklyn, Ferg’s is officially on the list.
Come hungry. Leave Southern.
