The Upper East Side is about to get another dose of Australian coffee culture. Bluestone Lane is expanding on the Upper East Side, with a new Yorkville location planned to replace the former Adria restaurant.
The popular Australian-inspired café chain already has a presence on the Upper East Side, including its distinctive location near East 90th Street and Fifth Avenue, but this new opening will give Yorkville residents another place to get their morning flat white without trekking across the neighborhood.
The exact opening date for the new location has not yet been announced, but the arrival is already generating buzz among local coffee drinkers.
For the uninitiated, Bluestone Lane NYC is known for its Australian-style espresso drinks and all-day café menu. Expect the kind of coffee that makes your regular drip order suddenly feel like it needs a passport—including flat whites, lattes, cold brew and espresso drinks.
And then there’s the food.
Bluestone Lane has built a following around its Australian-inspired breakfast and brunch menu, including its famous Avocado Smash, soft chili scramble, brekkie bowls, pastries and other healthy-ish café staples. Because apparently avocado toast tastes better when you call it “brekkie.”
The new Yorkville location will add another convenient option for Upper East Side coffee, breakfast and brunch, particularly for residents who don’t want their morning caffeine run to become a full expedition.
Meanwhile, the existing Fifth Avenue Bluestone Lane remains one of the chain’s more unusual NYC locations, operating inside the historic Church of the Heavenly Rest with views toward Central Park.
So, Upper East Siders, prepare your reusable coffee cups.
