Miami, prepare to meet your new pasta obsession. La Pecora Bianca is opening its first restaurant outside New York City on November 2, bringing its signature housemade pasta, Italian-inspired cocktails and effortlessly chic dining-room energy to Coral Gables.
The New York restaurant group is making its Florida debut at The Shops at Merrick Park, 360 San Lorenzo Avenue, with a sprawling 300-seat indoor-outdoor restaurant designed for everything from leisurely lunches to spritz-fueled dinners. Consider it a little taste of Manhattan — with more palm trees and considerably less need for a winter coat.
Vodka Rigatoni, Meet the Magic City
La Pecora Bianca has built a loyal following in New York with its approachable Italian menu and stylish atmosphere. Naturally, the restaurant isn’t leaving its greatest hits behind.
Expect its famous vodka rigatoni, whipped ricotta, fried mozzarella and tiramisu for two, alongside more than 10 housemade pastas. The menu will also feature Neapolitan-style pizzas, Italian classics and a beverage program built around wines, spritzes and cocktails inspired by aperitivo culture.
But Miami isn’t simply getting a carbon copy of a Manhattan restaurant. The Coral Gables location will introduce dishes created specifically for South Florida, including a giant carbonara raviolo, lobster spaghetti fra diavolo and tomato-and-melon carpaccio.
In other words, the pasta is familiar, but the Florida twist is very much invited.
A Little Italy, With a Tropical Upgrade
Designed by Miami-based firm Urban Robot, the new restaurant blends Italian architectural influences with South Florida’s sun-soaked personality. Think handmade terracotta, warm wood, marble, arched details and a palm-shaded outdoor garden that channels the feeling of an Italian piazza.
An expansive wraparound bar will anchor the space, making it a natural destination for afternoon aperitivo, weekend gatherings and dinners that stretch well beyond dessert.
