Cases of ‘explosive diarrhea’ parasite have grown massively to 273, which is 3 times as many as previously reported for the whole state.
According to the NY Post, the NYC Health Department spokesperson said that the city has seen an increase in ‘cases of cyclosporiasis compared to previous years, with 301 people sickened so far for the entirety of 2026.’
The scary party…this number includes people who both have and have not recently traveled internationally.
The NY Post went on to report that the department is still investigating where and how the infected people may have been exposed.
The department is also working with the CDC, the FDA and other health departments to help . The concerning part is the number of people who are contracting it without any links.
