Prince is coming to Broadway, and your wallet is already nervous.
PURPLE RAIN tickets are now on sale for the highly anticipated Broadway musical based on Prince’s legendary 1984 film and Grammy-winning album. The production begins previews March 12, 2027, at the Majestic Theatre, with opening night scheduled for April 12. The show features more than 20 Prince songs, including “When Doves Cry,” “I Would Die 4 U,” “Take Me With You” and “The Beautiful Ones.”
But before you spend your entire rent check chasing Purple Rain, there are ways to potentially score cheaper Broadway tickets.
First: check the official box office. Tickets are available through PurpleRainBroadway.com and Telecharge. Buying directly from the box office can also save you online and telephone service fees.
Want really cheap—or potentially free? Here’s the catch: Purple Rain has not yet announced its rush, digital lottery or standing-room policies. The show’s official FAQ says those policies will be announced later, so anyone promising you a secret $10 Purple Rain lottery today may be selling something other than tickets.
Once those programs launch, they could become the best option for budget-conscious theatergoers. Broadway lotteries and rush tickets can offer dramatically cheaper seats, although availability and prices vary by production.
Another money-saving strategy? Be flexible. Weekday performances and less-demanded dates can sometimes be easier on the bank account than prime Saturday-night seats.
