Broadway tickets can sometimes cost enough to make you question whether the chandelier is included. But The Sound of Music is giving New Yorkers a chance to see its upcoming Broadway revival for just $16—at least if they’re willing to get in line.

Lincoln Center Theater is celebrating the show’s box office opening with a special “$16 on the 17th” event on Thursday, September 17 at 11 a.m. at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. The catch? These aren’t online tickets. The special-price tickets will be sold in person only at the Lincoln Center Theater box office.

There are 300 $16 tickets available, covering performances throughout the show’s preview period. Tickets are being sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of two tickets per person. In other words, this is one Broadway deal where showing up early could be considerably more valuable than refreshing your browser 400 times.

And because Broadway apparently believes snacks should also have a plot twist, the first 100 people who purchase the $16 tickets will receive a “DOUGH-Re-Mi” donut from I’m donut ?, along with additional giveaways and limited-edition merchandise.

The new Sound of Music Broadway revival stars Tony Award nominee Jasmine Amy Rogers as Maria and is directed by Lear deBessonet, with choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli. It marks the musical’s first Broadway revival in nearly 30 years.

Regular tickets go on sale to the general public September 17 at 10 a.m., while the special $16 tickets begin selling at 11 a.m. in person at 150 West 65th Street. Performances begin March 23, 2027, with opening night scheduled for April 15.

So grab your calendar, your MetroCard and your best Broadway-line stamina.
