Sometimes it's a pita you have to eat with both hands.

New York has no shortage of sandwiches. But Miznon USA is making a strong argument that maybe what Manhattan really needed was a pita stuffed with something delicious, messy and aggressively flavorful.

Created by Israeli chef Eyal Shani, Miznon brings the energy of Tel Aviv street food to American cities, with a menu built around fresh, seasonal ingredients, warm pita and big flavors. The first U.S. location opened at Chelsea Market in 2018, and the brand has since expanded to multiple locations across New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and beyond.

Miznon

The concept is deceptively simple: take excellent ingredients and shove them into pita. But calling Miznon a sandwich shop is like calling New York a collection of buildings. There is considerably more going on.

The menu changes based on what’s fresh, but signature offerings include whole roasted cauliflower, falafel, steak, chicken, lamb and creative vegetable dishes, all served with the punchy combination of tahini, pickles, tomato, spicy peppers and herbs that gives Miznon its unmistakable personality.

And then there’s the atmosphere. Miznon isn’t trying to be a hushed Mediterranean restaurant where everyone whispers about the wine list. The brand embraces open kitchens, loud energy and the feeling of a Tel Aviv street-food joint dropped into the middle of New York.

Today, New York locations include Chelsea Market, Rockefeller Center, Hudson Yards, The Hugh and Times Square, with additional locations in the works. The Times Square location is also the brand’s kosher-certified NYC outpost.

That’s the appeal of Miznon NYC: it’s fast food with chef credentials, street food with serious technique and a meal that can somehow be both casual and completely memorable.

Because sometimes the best restaurant experience isn’t a three-hour tasting menu.
