New York City is about to get an Indian restaurant that wants you to stay out late. Befikre is coming to Midtown at 42 West 33rd Street, bringing its modern Indian cuisine and full-on supper-club energy to Koreatown.
The Toronto-born restaurant is expected to open in October 2026, taking over a two-story, roughly 220-seat space designed to blur the line between restaurant and nightlife destination. And if the name sounds familiar, there’s a reason: Befikre’s original Toronto location has built its identity around contemporary Indian food, elaborate cocktails and theatrical presentation.
The NYC location is promising to turn that formula up another notch.
Expect modern Indian dishes that mix traditional flavors with contemporary techniques, along with cocktails, DJs, live entertainment and late-night energy. Befikre describes itself as an “Indian supper club,” and its existing menu includes dishes such as truffle malai chicken tikka and dal makhani with 24-karat-gold-infused butter.
Translation: this isn’t necessarily the place for a quiet bowl of dal and an early bedtime.
The restaurant’s design is expected to be just as important as the food, with a glamorous, art-gallery-inspired atmosphere and theatrical table presentations. The result is intended to feel more like a night out than simply dinner.
