New York City takes dining seriously, but three Michelin stars takes things to another level. As of the current 2026 MICHELIN Guide, NYC has five restaurants holding the coveted three-star distinction—which the guide describes as “exceptional cuisine.”
The five restaurants are Jungsik, Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin, Per Se and Sushi Sho.
First up is Jungsik, the Korean fine-dining destination that made history as the first Korean restaurant in the United States to earn three Michelin stars. Its modern interpretation of Korean cuisine has become one of the city’s most talked-about luxury dining experiences.
Then there’s Eleven Madison Park, the iconic Madison Square Park restaurant that famously reinvented its menu around plant-based cuisine. It remains one of the most recognizable names in NYC fine dining.
Le Bernardin brings a seafood-focused approach to the three-star club, while Per Se offers Thomas Keller’s highly polished contemporary cuisine. Both have long been fixtures of New York’s luxury dining landscape.
The newest addition is Sushi Sho, which earned its third star in the 2025 Michelin Guide. The intimate Japanese restaurant features an eight-seat hinoki counter and an omakase experience built around sushi and meticulous technique.
Of course, dining at one of these restaurants is less “let’s grab dinner” and more “let’s check the bank account first.” Michelin lists all five in its $$$$ category, meaning diners should expect a serious special-occasion splurge.
