Located at The Shepherd Mayfair in historic Shepherd Market, The Lounge is designed to shift effortlessly throughout the day—from morning coffee and pastries to casual lunches and evening drinks. It’s less “hotel lobby where you wait for someone” and more “place you might accidentally spend four hours.”
The space has 46 covers, an outdoor terrace and even a street-facing hatch for takeaway refreshments, making it as much a neighborhood café as a hotel amenity.
Design-wise, The Lounge is decidedly Mayfair without shouting about it. Forest-green velvet upholstery, natural timber, geometric detailing and softly carved lines give the room a warm, residential feel. Black-and-white illustrations by British artist John Broadley add another layer of personality throughout the lobby and lounge.
Then there’s one particularly fun detail: the bespoke Moatwood gin trolley. Crafted from timber sourced from a fallen tree in Kensington Palace Gardens and hand-finished by a Hackney craftsman, it brings a little theatricality to tableside drinks. Because apparently even a gin trolley needs a backstory in Mayfair.
The Lounge is part of The Shepherd Mayfair’s broader collection of dining and drinking spaces, alongside Fayre, the hotel’s seasonal British restaurant, and Teddy’s, its hidden late-night cocktail bar. Together, they are intended to take guests from the first coffee of the day through to the final drink.
