New York’s Thai food scene is having a moment, but Wanglang NYC is making a compelling case for looking beyond the usual pad Thai order. This stylish Flatiron restaurant brings the flavors of Bangkok’s home kitchens and bustling riverside markets to Manhattan, pairing traditional Thai cooking with a polished setting that’s ready for everything from date night to a very serious lunch break.

Located at 49 West 24th Street, Wanglang takes its name from a historic riverside neighborhood in Bangkok, known for its lively food market and street-food culture. The restaurant’s mission is to capture that spirit while giving familiar Thai dishes a thoughtful, elevated presentation.

Khao Soi, Curry and Serious Flavor

At the helm is Bangkok-born executive chef Rattana Suntanalukn, who grew up in a family of restaurateurs and draws inspiration from generations of Thai recipes.

One dish worth putting on your radar is the Khao Soi Nuer Toon, a Northern Thai specialty featuring tender braised beef, egg noodles and a rich coconut curry broth. It delivers the comforting warmth of a classic bowl of curry noodles, with enough depth to make ordering an extra serving of rice seem like excellent planning.

The Duck Confit Chu-Chee is another standout, pairing slow-cooked duck with a rich curry sauce and fragrant kaffir lime leaves. For a lighter, brighter start, the crispy shrimp cakes and fresh papaya salad bring crunch, acidity and plenty of personality to the table.

And don’t rush past dessert: Wanglang’s Thai tea-ramisu gives the familiar Italian classic a distinctly Thai twist.

Cocktails With a Thai Accent

The drinks menu borrows from Thai pantry staples, translating familiar spices, herbs and flavors into creative cocktails. A satay-inspired Old Fashioned adds peanut and warming spice to bourbon, while other drinks incorporate Thai-style dressings, floral notes and tropical flavors.

The restaurant also offers weekday happy hour, making it a tempting stop for after-work drinks and snacks.

Where to Find Wanglang NYC

Find Wanglang at 49 West 24th Street in the Flatiron District. With homestyle Thai cooking, creative cocktails and a lively yet refined atmosphere, it offers a flavorful detour to Bangkok without the long-haul flight.
