New York’s High Line has seen its fair share of unusual residents, but it may have just met its most glamorous one yet.

Bvlgari has unveiled a massive golden serpent on the High Line, and the installation is basically impossible to miss. Called auruBOROS—Urban Memory and Collective Dream, the 33-foot inflatable sculpture is the latest chapter of the luxury house’s Serpenti Infinito project.

Created by Berlin-based art and architecture duo Plastique Fantastique, the enormous sculpture features twisting, reflective gold coils that weave through the High Line near Little West 12th Street in the Meatpacking District. The shiny surface reflects the surrounding buildings, plants, sky and, naturally, anyone standing nearby trying to get the perfect Instagram photo.

The name is a clever mash-up of aurum, Latin for gold, and ouroboros, the ancient symbol of a serpent eating its own tail. The artists took that circular idea and opened it up into an enormous form that interacts with the city around it.

And here’s the best part for New Yorkers: the Bvlgari High Line installation is free.

Visitors can walk around—and through—the giant golden coils, making this less of a traditional museum exhibition and more of an enormous outdoor art experience. It is on view through September 20, 2026, so there isn’t much time left to see it.

The installation also arrived during New York Fashion Week, giving the already photogenic High Line a decidedly more luxurious makeover. The unveiling attracted celebrities including Anne Hathaway, Dua Lipa and Lisa of Blackpink, adding plenty of star power to the serpent’s debut.

If you’re looking for free things to do in NYC, unique NYC art installations or the latest Instagram-worthy spot on the High Line, this one checks every box.

Just don’t be surprised if your walk through Chelsea suddenly involves a giant gold snake.
