Myka Is Coming to the Upper East Side—and NYC’s Froyo Wars Are Getting Serious

It's knowing where the froyo line starts.

The Upper East Side already has plenty of reasons to get your steps in. Now there’s another one—and it comes with Greek yogurt, baklava and pistachio sauce.

Myka, the viral Greek frozen yogurt brand, is opening a new location on the Upper East Side, bringing its Mediterranean-inspired take on froyo to 1547 Second Avenue, between East 80th and 81st Streets. Signage is already up at the former Ania Rybka Salon space, although an official opening date has not yet been announced.

Myka has been making waves around New York with a frozen-yogurt formula that is considerably more sophisticated than the neon-colored froyo of your childhood. Its signature yogurt is made with Greek yogurt and goat’s milk kefir, creating a tangy, creamy base that pairs with toppings leaning heavily into Mediterranean flavors.

Think baklava, pistachio cream, honey, olive oil, fig and orange compotes, praline crunch and goji berries. Basically, your frozen yogurt is about to have a more impressive pantry than most New York apartments.

Founded in Madrid in 2023 by Natalia Morales and Javier Ezquerro, Myka has expanded rapidly, with the company reporting dozens of locations across multiple countries. Its NYC footprint already includes shops in the West Village, Union Square and Rockefeller Center.

And Myka is walking directly into what may be NYC’s most competitive frozen-dessert neighborhood.

The new Upper East Side location will be less than a block from Pinkberry, 16 Handles and Anita Gelato, while other frozen-yogurt shops are also nearby. In other words, Second Avenue is becoming less “avenue” and more frozen-yogurt food court.

With Myka already known for attracting lines at its other NYC locations, UES residents may want to prepare accordingly.

Because apparently the latest Upper East Side status symbol isn’t a Birkin.

It’s knowing where the froyo line starts.
