Costco has officially decided that regular Halloween candy is far too civilized.

The warehouse giant is selling a 5.5-pound chocolate Frankenstein head filled with gummy body parts, and yes, you actually get a mallet to smash the monster open. Because apparently Costco looked at Halloween and thought, “What if candy came with demolition?”

Called the Monster Mash Chocolate, the oversized Halloween treat is made by Ten Acre Gifts and is selling for $54.99 at Costco. The hollow Frankenstein-inspired head is made from Belgian chocolate and packed with fruit-flavored gummy candies shaped like creepy body parts.

And this isn’t some tiny novelty chocolate you’ll finish while watching a Halloween movie. At 5½ pounds, this thing is practically a seasonal centerpiece. The package lists 25 servings at 150 calories each, meaning Costco has somehow managed to turn Halloween candy into a group activity.

The real entertainment begins when it’s time to eat it.

Rather than simply opening a wrapper, shoppers are instructed to grab the included wooden mallet and smash Frankenstein’s head to get to the gummy candy inside. Think piñata, except the piñata is made of chocolate and you’re eventually expected to eat the evidence.

Naturally, the Costco Frankenstein head has been getting plenty of attention online, with shoppers divided between “I absolutely need this” and “I cannot believe someone wants $55 for chocolate.” Some online resale listings have reportedly climbed toward $100, although Costco’s availability has been limited.

For Halloween parties, this could be the ultimate Costco Halloween candy, especially if you want a dessert that doubles as entertainment.

Just maybe don’t let your guests fight over the mallet.
