New York City is finally doing what it probably should have done decades ago: giving pizza its own week.
The inaugural NYC Pizza Week runs from September 20 through October 4, 2026, turning the city’s already considerable obsession with pizza into a full-blown two-week celebration of independent pizzerias. More than 20 shops across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens are participating, each creating a limited-edition Signature Slice that will only be available during the event.
And no, you don’t need a ticket, reservation or complicated app to participate. Simply walk into a participating pizza shop, order its special NYC Pizza Week slice, eat it like the responsible adult you are, and then rate it.
Because apparently New York needed to turn eating pizza into a competition.
The lineup includes pizza favorites like Paulie Gee’s, Stretch Pizza, Slicehaus, Diamond Slice and Unregular Pizza, with participating locations spread throughout neighborhoods including the East Village, Lower East Side, Greenpoint, Williamsburg and Long Island City.
The specialty slices are anything but boring. Stretch Pizza is serving an Al Pastor slice with braised pork, salsa verde, pineapple ricotta and cilantro, while Hots Pizza is going full pickle with crème fraîche, mozzarella, dill, Calabrian ranch and Parmesan. Meanwhile, Diamond Slice is combining mortadella, pesto and stracciatella.
Once you’ve eaten, you can submit a rating by text. At the end of NYC Pizza Week, the highest-rated Signature Slice takes home the title of Best Slice.
Even better, this pizza crawl has a charitable side. A portion of proceeds from each Signature Slice sold benefits Slice Out Hunger, the New York-born nonprofit fighting food insecurity.
So grab your friends, loosen your jeans and prepare to cross boroughs for carbohydrates.
NYC Pizza Week is coming. Your pizza itinerary starts now.
