New York City’s Carbone has officially conquered London, and naturally, it didn’t arrive quietly.
The legendary Italian-American restaurant from Mario Carbone, Jeff Zalaznick and Rich Torrisi opened in London’s Mayfair in September 2025, bringing its signature red-sauce glamour, celebrity energy and very serious pasta game across the Atlantic. Located at 30 Grosvenor Square, inside the former American Embassy that’s now home to The Chancery Rosewood, Carbone London is the group’s European flagship.
And yes, the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka made the trip.
The London menu features plenty of Carbone classics, including Caesar alla ZZ, octopus pizzaiolo, veal Parmesan and Carbone lasagna. The restaurant has also made some tweaks for its London audience, including dishes such as scallops rosmarino and risotto.
But Carbone has always been about more than what’s on the plate.
The restaurant’s Mayfair location spans multiple levels, with dining rooms, cocktail lounges, a private dining space and an outdoor terrace overlooking Grosvenor Square. The interiors come courtesy of designer Ken Fulk, with velvet banquettes, mosaic floors, lacquered wood and enough old-school glamour to make dinner feel more like a movie set than a restaurant reservation.
Then there are the waiters, known as Captains, dressed in burgundy tuxedos designed by Zac Posen. Dessert arrives on a dramatic silver platter because apparently ordering tiramisu should involve a little theater.
The arrival has also proved hugely popular. London dining coverage reported that tables initially disappeared within minutes of reservations opening.
So, Carbone London isn’t exactly trying to reinvent Italian-American dining.
It’s doing something much more Carbone: taking New York’s most famous red-sauce restaurant, dressing it up for Mayfair and making sure dinner is still very much the show.
