The pop superstar surprised fans during the October 31 Harryween concert at MSG, appearing in a furry brown rat costume complete with pink feet, a long tail, black sunglasses and an oversized slice of pizza. The inspiration? None other than New York City’s most iconic underground celebrity: Pizza Rat.

For anyone who has somehow missed the internet’s obsession, Pizza Rat became a New York legend after a viral video showed a rat dragging an entire slice of pizza down the steps of a subway station. The clip became an unofficial symbol of the city’s survival instincts, questionable sanitation and unwavering commitment to getting dinner.
Now, Styles has given the beloved rodent a celebrity makeover.
The costume was a perfect fit for Harryween, his Halloween-themed concert tradition, which returned to Madison Square Garden for two special performances on October 30 and 31.
His bandmates also joined the fun, dressing as recognizable New York City landmarks and cultural icons, turning the stage into a full-blown Halloween tribute to the Big Apple.
