New York City restaurants come and go, but some simply refuse to stay gone. Mary’s Fish Camp is officially back in the West Village, giving longtime fans a very good reason to put seafood back on the dinner agenda.

The beloved neighborhood seafood shack has reopened at 626 Hudson Street at Jane Street, just a few blocks from its original home on Charles Street. Mary Redding closed the original Mary’s Fish Camp in 2024 after more than two decades, but now the West Village institution has found a new home—and brought much of its old-school charm along with it.

And thankfully, the menu didn’t get a Manhattan makeover.

Mary’s is still serving the kind of seafood that made it a neighborhood favorite: lobster rolls, fish tacos, fried seafood, smoked trout dip, chowder and daily chalkboard specials. The lobster roll remains the headliner, with the restaurant’s famously generous version served on a toasted bun alongside those skinny, dangerously snackable fries.

The new space keeps the casual New England fish-shack vibe, complete with an open kitchen, chalkboard specials and plenty of neighborhood energy. In other words, it feels less like a flashy “restaurant reopening” and more like Mary simply stepped out for a couple of years and came back wondering what everyone was complaining about.

For anyone searching for Mary’s Fish Camp NYC, the best lobster rolls in NYC, West Village seafood or where to eat seafood in Greenwich Village, this comeback is worth knowing about.

Reservations are available, but walk-ins are also part of the experience.

So order the lobster roll. Get the fries. Maybe add some oysters.
