New York City doesn’t really do Halloween. It does Halloween—with costumes, cocktails, rooftops, DJs, elaborate productions and enough fake blood to make the MTA nervous.
And in 2026, Halloween lands on Saturday, October 31, giving New Yorkers the perfect excuse to make an entire weekend out of dressing like someone—or something—completely different.
The centerpiece remains the Village Halloween Parade, which takes over Sixth Avenue on Halloween night. The legendary Greenwich Village spectacle begins at 7 p.m., bringing thousands of costumed participants, giant puppets and marching bands to Manhattan. And yes, you can join the parade yourself if you’re in costume.
But the real party starts after—or before—the parade.
For a rooftop Halloween experience, Dead Disco at PUBLIC Hotel kicks off October 29 with DJs, costumes, cocktails and an open-air setting at 215 Chrystie Street. Friday brings The Descent at Submercer in SoHo, promising a late-night house-music party underground.
Looking for something a little more mysterious? The Masquerade in Chelsea on October 30 leans into candlelit, Parisian-inspired glamour, masks and late-night music.
Then Halloween night gets even bigger with Heaven & Hell at Eden New York in Midtown, a multi-level costume party running late into the night. There’s also Haunting on the Hudson, a Halloween cruise promising Manhattan skyline views, costumes and plenty of dancing on the water.
Brooklyn isn’t sitting this one out either. Halloween Weekend ’26 features events across Manhattan and Brooklyn on October 30 and 31, including parties at venues such as Superior Ingredients and Harriet’s Lounge.

Just remember: the costume may be temporary. The photos are forever.
