The sun is coming out on Broadway—again. Annie is officially returning to Broadway in fall 2027, and the timing could not be more perfect: the beloved musical will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a brand-new production.

The upcoming Annie Broadway revival will be directed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton, the director behind Oh, Mary! and the recent Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show. Pinkleton is apparently a very big Annie fan, calling the musical everything he loves about New York City: “gutsy, fearless, and funny as hell.”

Translation? This probably won’t be your grandmother’s Annie.

The musical, featuring music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan, first opened on Broadway on April 21, 1977. It went on to win seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and became one of Broadway’s most recognizable shows.

And yes, the classics are coming back with it: “Tomorrow,” “It’s the Hard-Knock Life,” “Easy Street” and “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile.”

The new production will mark Annie’s third Broadway revival following productions in 1997 and 2012.

There is one small catch for anyone already searching Annie Broadway tickets: you’re going to have to wait. Producers have not yet announced the cast, Broadway theater, exact opening date or ticket-sale information.

So, New York, prepare for red hair, tap shoes, billionaires, orphans and one extremely optimistic little girl to take over Broadway once again.

Tomorrow may be another day—but Annie tickets are definitely going to be something to watch.
