R&B singer Jacquees is making headlines for a reason that has nothing to do with a new single. The singer was arrested in Hollywood, Florida, over the weekend and is facing three criminal charges, including DUI.
According to Hollywood police, officers responded shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday, September 27, after receiving a report of a person apparently passed out inside a vehicle near North 62nd Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. Police identified the person as Jacquees, whose legal name is Rodriguez Jacquees Broadnax.
Authorities say the situation escalated when Broadnax allegedly became combative with first responders while being transported to a hospital. He was subsequently booked into Broward County custody.
The charges listed against him are driving under the influence, battery on a law enforcement officer, firefighter or EMT, and resisting or obstructing an officer without violence.
Jacquees appeared in bond court Monday and was given a total bond of $3,500, according to local reports. Importantly, these are allegations and criminal charges—not convictions. Authorities have not publicly released a complete account explaining what allegedly led to the DUI charge.
The Hollywood arrest is also not Jacquees’ first encounter with law enforcement. He was arrested following a traffic stop in Miami Beach in 2018 and later that year was arrested in Atlanta after police accused him of driving 116 mph. In 2023, he faced simple battery and obstruction charges in Georgia following an alleged altercation. Those cases are separate from the current Florida matter.
