Sushi for lunch in New York City usually means one of two things: sitting down for a proper meal or eating a sad desk salad while pretending you’re not hungry. Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar is offering a much better third option: grab-and-go sushi that you can actually get excited about.

The Blue Ribbon team has expanded its casual sushi-bar concept to 22 Vanderbilt, just steps from Grand Central Terminal. Located at the entrance at 337 Madison Avenue, the Midtown East location is specifically designed around weekday lunch, with sushi, poke bowls and grab-and-go options ready for people who have places to be.

The new Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar at 22 Vanderbilt is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., making it perfectly timed for the Midtown lunch crowd. You can grab a sushi roll, build a poke bowl or pick up a sashimi platter without committing to a full sit-down restaurant experience.

The menu includes maki starting at $11, two rolls for $20 and three for $28, along with a six-piece sushi-and-maki combo for $27 and an eight-piece sashimi platter for $29. There are also daily sashimi donburi bowls for $22 and build-your-own poke bowls for $24.

Basically, Blue Ribbon has figured out what Midtown workers actually want: good sushi that doesn’t require blocking off the entire afternoon.

And if you’re heading back to the office, there’s no need to announce that you had sushi for lunch. Just carry the container confidently and let your coworkers wonder why their sandwich suddenly looks so depressing.

Blue Ribbon also operates grab-and-go-focused locations at Rockefeller Center and Brookfield Place, so the concept is becoming a bona fide NYC lunch strategy.

Because sometimes the best sushi experience in NYC isn’t a two-hour omakase.

It’s the one you can eat before your 1 p.m. meeting.
